Women’s Health Awareness Months Proclaimed
Winchester, Tenn. – Southern Tennessee Medical Center was presented a Proclamation from Franklin County Mayor Richard Stewart proclaiming September and October as “STMC Women’s Health Awareness Months” in the STMC Women’s Center. Digital screening mammograms and bone mass density screenings will be available on Saturday, September 10th, September 24th, October 8th, and October 29th. Refreshments will be available to participants on each of the Saturday’s with a participant door prize drawing for two PINK Shuffle iPods held on October 31, 2011.
“October is observed as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month,” states John Howard, Director of STMC/EHH Imaging Services. “We chose, however, to extend the Saturday appointment availability to include September for the convenience of our community working population. Another addition in 2011 is adding the availability of the bone mass density screening on these dates.”
The Administration and staff of Southern Tennessee Medical Center and Emerald-Hodgson Hospital encourage the community to receive their digital screening mammograms or bone mass density screenings on one of these designated Saturdays or on Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Although a screening mammogram does not require a physician’s referral, the bone mass density screening does. Persons interested in receiving a bone mass density screening should speak with their Primary Care Physician or call Southern Tennessee Medical Center for more details.
