Hospital Announces Addition of New Internal Medicine Physician
September 13, 2017
Southern Tennessee Regional Health System - Lawrenceburg (STRHS - Lawrenceburg) officials announce the addition of Dr. Alvin M. Maliakal to the medical community. Dr. Maliakal will be joining Dr. Leon Everett and nurse practitioners Leslie Bedford and Marie Mattei-Weiland at First Choice Health - Lawrenceburg.
“The addition of another primary care physician in Lawrence County illustrates our commitment to making communities healthier,” said Jeff Noblin, CEO of STRHS - Lawrenceburg. “Although there is a lot of uncertainty in healthcare right now, one thing remains the same, and that is the need for primary care providers. A primary care provider becomes a partner in your health by knowing your medical history, developing a health and wellness plan, managing your medications, and engaging you in prevention efforts to keep you healthy. This partnership gives you a sense of comfort resulting in good communication between you and the provider.”
Dr. Maliakal received his medical degree from Kasturba Medical College at Manipal University in Karnataka, India. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Medstar Washington Hospital in Washington, DC.
Maliakal will be joining First Choice Health - Lawrenceburg in October where they offer chronic disease management, diabetes management, DOT physicals, routine medical care, testosterone injections, flu shots, smoking cessation, and more. First Choice Health offers urgent care and same day appointments, as well as convenient hours.
The practice is located at 184 Prosser Road and is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. For additional information about Dr. Maliakal or to make an appointment, call (931) 762-1800.
