People are at the Cornerstone of Making Communities Healthier
May 7, 2018
Southern Tennessee Regional Health System is joining with several organizations this May to recognize and celebrate many of our community’s healthcare providers and recognize their efforts to help make our community healthier.
National Hospital Week
May 6 – 12 marks the American Hospital Association’s National Hospital Week. This annual event honors the millions of healthcare professionals who dedicate their lives to taking care of people in their greatest times of need. From physicians and nurses to food service workers and volunteers, each employee of Southern Tennessee Regional Health System plays an important role in providing a quality patient experience for members of our community, according to Russ Spray, STRHS-Winchester CEO.
“I am so proud of the hard work our staff puts in each and every day that allows us to provide the highest quality care and create a safe, welcoming environment for our patients and their families” he/shesays. “They are at the heart of our efforts to create places where people choose to come for healthcare, physicians want to practice and employees want to work. And we are continually seeking out ways we can enhance the level of care we offer. In the last year, we have improved our digital imaging capabilities, enhanced our employee training program while expanding our local services to include neurology and behaviorial health.
National Nurses Week
Coinciding with National Hospital Week, May 6 – 12 is also National Nurses Week, an annual observance led by the American Nurses Association to recognize the more than four million nursing staff across the country for their role in inspiring, innovating and influencing the delivery of quality patient care at the bedside.
“Our nurses play an essential role in ensuring that our patients have a positive experience at our hospital and leave here in better condition than they arrived,” Spray says, “and I am so thankful for their tireless dedication to upholding the highest standards and working to advance our mission of Making Communities Healthier.”
National Nursing Home Week and National EMS Week
Other celebrations that Southern Tennessee Regional Health System will be honoring in May include National Nursing Home Week, May 13 -19, which recognizes the care that skilled nursing centers provide for seniors and individuals with disabilities in our community, and National EMS Week, May 20 – 26, which honors the crucial, lifesaving care our community’s emergency medical workers provide when minutes matter most.
“Improving the overall health and well-being of our community is a team effort,” says Spray.“I am honored and humbled to work alongside these healthcare professionals as they dedicate their lives to improving the level of high quality care available to our neighbors and make our community healthier.”
